ACIC DIRECTOR

The Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) is the state agency responsible for providing information technology services to law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies in Arkansas. The ACIC Director administers ACIC and reports to the ACIC Supervisory Board and the Governor.

The principal role of ACIC is the administration of a comprehensive data system that is accessible by criminal justice agencies in over 250 Arkansas locations. This system interfaces with the FBI's National Crime Information Center and other state systems. ACIC also collects and publishes statistics on crime and manages the crime victim notification system and state sex offender registry.

Special Job Requirements:

Limited in-state travel, including occasional overnight and weekend travel, is required. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required.

Typical Functions:

The ACIC Director administers the agency and directs the activities of a medium-sized professional and administrative staff, through lower level supervisors, including approving hire recommendations, reviewing performance evaluations, and evaluating the performance of immediate subordinates. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the operations of ACIC. Develops, approves, and monitors agency budgets. Oversees, monitors, and reviews agency divisions.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the Arkansas Crime Information Center system and the National Crime Information Center system. Knowledge of criminal law, the criminal justice system, and law enforcement practices and standards. Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities and to assign and direct the work of subordinate supervisors. Ability to prepare detailed written reports and documents. Ability to oversee and help develop agency budgets. Ability to make presentations to large groups and work well with peer organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, information technology, business administration, public administration, or a related field; plus five years of experience in a related field, including three years of supervisory experience.
